Murray River "Hells Gates" Whitewater Experiences
High in the pristine alpine rainforest of the Snowy Mountains you’ll find the Murray Gates, turbulent birthplace of the Murray River. This narrow gorge descends rapidly between enormous boulders and towering cliffs, providing one of the world’s premier wild water adventures.
Awesome technical rapids
The action starts immediately as you negotiate seemingly non-existent passageways through rock-strewn corridors such as Sharks Tooth and Himalayan wrap. Rapids comprising of tight chutes, tall drops and immense boulders continue for 8kms...... the action and fun simply doesn’t stop! The lower section of the river mellows to grade 2-3 rapids, allowing time for relaxation and the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking alpine flora and fauna.
Incredible wilderness
Our rafters are introduced to the thrill of the rugged deep canyons, pools with crystal clear water, side-streams and waterfalls, all very much part of the character of this untamed wilderness area. You may even see platypus, kangaroos, wombats, deer and a range of bird life!
The Murray Gates is one of the steepest and most technical sections of grade 4+ whitewater found anywhere in the world.
